Healing at the Edge: Conscious Living and Conscious Dying
Deepening Presence in Times of Death, Grief, Loss and Transformation
A CEU workshop led by RamDev Dale Borglum, PhD for therapists, healers, caregivers, and people who would like to volunteer with the Living/Dying Project that strengthens their ability to stay grounded and open-hearted while accompanying others through life’s profound transitions.
This course explores an integrative model of healing that supports clinicians and caregivers working with clients facing loss, illness, and end-of-life transitions. Participants will examine healing as a multidimensional process—physical, emotional, and spiritual—through which individuals move toward wholeness, even in the midst of suffering.
Drawing from Buddhist psychology, developmental theory, and 35 years of contemplative practice and service at the bedside, Dale Borglum (Founder, the Living/Dying Project) offers a clear and practical framework for identifying where clients are on their healing path and determining the next transformational step.

Why It Matters
To truly serve others—whether professionally or personally—we must be willing to meet our own fear, loss, and vulnerability with honesty and care. These workshops are a chance to do that work in community, with experienced guidance.
No matter your role, this training offers a map for navigating life’s most challenging transitions with presence and love. In these times of collective uncertainty, the opportunity for deep healing has never been greater.
RamDev Dale Borglum, PhD is the Founder and Executive Director of the Living/Dying Project in the San Francisco Bay Area and a pioneer in the conscious dying movement. For over 45 years, he has worked intimately with individuals facing life-threatening illness, along with their families and caregivers. In 1981, with Ram Dass and Steven Levine, he established The Dying Center, the first residential facility in the United States dedicated to supporting people in dying consciously. He holds a BS from UC Berkeley and a PhD in mathematics from Stanford University and is co-author of Journey of Awakening: A Meditator’s Guidebook.
Dale’s teachings draw from decades of immersion in devotional practice, meditation, and contemplative prayer, informed by study with luminaries such as Neem Karoli Baba, Suzuki Roshi, Ananda Mayee Ma, and the Dalai Lama. He has taught widely on caregiving as a spiritual practice and the transformative potential of meeting death, illness, and loss with an open heart. His life’s work is dedicated to healing our collective relationship with death and using the inevitability of mortality as a path to awakening.
