About this event

We are delighted to welcome Rameshwar Das to the Living/Dying Project Speaker Series. Rameshwar Das and RamDev are old (getting older) friends, guru brothers on the path of the heart. They will share perspectives on how aging and dying have changed over the past 50 years.

These guru brothers were together in India in the early 1970s alongside Ram Dass and Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji). More than fifty years later, these lifelong friends reunite for a heartfelt conversation that weaves together spiritual wisdom, personal stories, and the enduring presence of their guru.

This will be a warm, intimate, and inspiring gathering rooted in devotion, truth, and the remembrance of our shared heart. All are welcome.

Born James Lytton, Rameshwar Das has been navigating a spiritual path for 50 years. He met Ram Dass, also known as Richard Alpert, PhD, at his first talk on returning from India in 1968. Ramesh also spent time with Ram Dass’s guru, Neem Karoli Baba, from 1970-72, who gave him the name, Rameshwar Das. While in India he also learned Vipassana meditation from S.N. Goenka and met several other saints.

In his working life in USA, Rameshwar Das has been an artist, photographer, environmentalist and writer. He has collaborated on many projects with Ram Dass, including photography for the original Be Here Now book and Love Serve Remember recordings, and is coauthor with Ram Dass of three books, Be Love Now (2010), Polishing the Mirror (2013), and Being Ram Dass (2021). He is a founding board member of the Love Serve Remember Foundation (ramdass.org) and lives on Long Island in New York.
